“Shall We Talk” Embracing Impermanence – Online De-stress Workshops

Members of our community should fare better to withstand the unpredictable and shocking changes when mental resilience has become part of their mental build-up. The “Shall We Talk” Initiative, working with a group of expressive arts therapists and the Centre on Behavioral Health of the University of Hong Kong, will launch online workshops to help the general public understand life’s impermanence and prepare them to attend to life’s unexpected happenings. The workshops will appeal to the participants to prepare themselves in the context of life’ s impermanence.

“Shall We Talk” Embracing Impermanence – Online De-stress Workshops, with 36 separated 1-hour workshops, will be staged between 20 February and 31 March 2023. Each workshop is conducted in Cantonese with a stand-alone unit, sharing the same common theme and approach. All people aged 18 years old or above are welcome to join freely. It adopts the psycho-educational approach and is guided by principles of expressive arts therapy for releasing body strains and calming the mind. The workshops use visual art, music, movement, drama and creative writing jointly or severally during the session. They shall be able to help participants in self-awareness and self-expression for de-stressing.

Registered expressive arts therapists, Shing-Mu YAU, Joanna TO, Gabbie CHAN and Wynnee YEUNG, will take turns facilitating the workshops. The Embracing Impermanence online program is conducted under the supervision of Prof. Rainbow HO, Director of both the Master of Expressive Arts Therapy Program and the Centre on Behavioral Health at the University of Hong Kong.
